Liars, bums, cheats. You expected anything less, or different?
Access to the Cube and much of the new "public" Astor Place plaza was cut off for some Citibank-sponsored waste of time most of yesterday and today. The East Village and Artist's World tours were only mildly inconvenienced, but these are public spaces which are now rented out for corporate events. It's wrong.
When the Cube came back after a two-year absence, the public was assured that other than a benign little cafe, the area would remain open, free, public and not for sale.
But private, corporate sponsored and branded events are seemingly separate beasts.
